Book Tasting

On Wednesday, March 5th, students in English I and English II classes enjoyed a Book Tasting in the library, hosted by Mrs. Lile and Mrs. Parker. The goal of the event was to expose students to as many books as possible in a short amount of time, books they might not find on their own, in order to give them more book options for Independent Reading (IR) time. Students are expected to read a book of their choice every day for 20 minutes, sometimes during class time, and sometimes outside of class time, so Mrs. Lile and Mrs. Parker wished to provide for them a wide variety of books so students could make educated decisions about the books they want to read for IR, books that match their interests and that they will enjoy. Students went through the "tasting" process several times at multiple tables filled with a variety books (while eating many snacks!), so hopefully, each student found at least one book he or she wishes to "devour".
